A Musical Journey Through All Eight Harry Potter Films
Since 2001, the Harry Potter films have enchanted audiences around the world. From epic midnight fan screenings and an impact on British tourism to iconic convention moments and more, the Harry Potter films created a cultural movement unlike any other. But none of that would be the same without the music that helped bring the magical world to life for moviegoers everywhere.

Spread across eight movies, our story follows a young boy named Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) who finds out he’s actually a wizard on his 11th birthday after a visit from a half-giant named Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane). Potter’s life changed forever as he’s reintroduced to the Wizarding World and learns more about who he is in this coming of age story.
You’re invited to join Pacific Symphony for John Williams’ Magical Music of Harry Potter on August 23, 2024 at Great Park Live in Irvine. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez, this is the fourth concert of Pacific Symphony’s SummerFest 2024 Series presented by City of Hope Orange County. The evening also features soprano Gabriela Atkinson, Katelyn Cruz, tenor Bryce Rivera, and bass-baritone Adam Daruvala for “Double Trouble.” Film clips will not be shown.
Released over the course of 10 years (2001-2011), all eight movies were composed through the efforts of four different film composers with their own unique flare. John Williams started the journey with Years 1-3 (Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban), Patrick Doyle stepped in for Year 4 (Goblet of Fire), Nicholas Hooper chimed in for Years 5-6 (Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince), and Alexandre Desplat wrapped everything up with Year 7 (Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2).
Our evening begins with John Williams’ iconic Hedwig’s Theme. Named after the famous snowy owl that Hagrid gives Harry for his birthday, it was originally conceived as promotional music but has since become an integral part of the franchise. The piece opens with solo celeste and off we go. As the concert continues, we invite you to sit back, relax, and revisit some of the most memorable moments all over again as you enjoy the orchestral sound of magical sporting matches, a famous shopping district and bank, the castle at which Harry and his friends study at, and more.
There’s still time to join us for this spellbinding one night–only event! Single tickets start at $44. For groups of 10 or more, contact (714) 876-2391 or groups@pacificsymphony.org.
